Hot Cross Bun-Good Friday Special

HAPPY EASTER TO ALL...

"Hot cross buns Hot Cross Buns one a penny two a penny hot cross Buns"..This is what I knew earlier about hot cross buns.Last week Hindu-Young world carried a page on recipes for the easter which had hot cross buns ..I immediately googled for the recipe and found a one with more interesting stories on it.I love to share those with my blog readers..

Hot cross bun is a spiced sweet bun made with raisins and marked cross on the top and traditionally eatedn on good friday

These buns are made on good friday the friday before easter.

As per wiki:In most of the christian countries ,these hot cross buns are eaten on good friday. The cross on the bun stands for the symbol of the crucification. There is also a belief that buns made on good friday will not get spoiled ot become mouldy the subsequent year.To ensure good friendship throughout the coming year people share hot cross buns with each other saying Half for u and half for me..Between us two shall goodwill be..Because of the cross on the bun it is said that they should be kissed before they are eaten!

These are some interesting superstitions regarding this hot cross buns baked on good friday..
If taken on a sea voyage hot cross buns are said to protect against shipwreck.
If hung in the kitchen they are said to protect against fires and also they ensure that all the buns baked throughout the year turns out well..
A piece of it given to onoe who is ill will help him to recover.
The bun that is hanged is replaced every year..

This bun is a combination of spices and sweet.

I had baked this for the first time and it came out too well..My younger kid Y who is in preschooling loved havving this and singing out loud the hot cross bun nursery rhyme...

Bake this bun, share with ur friends and enjoy the easter..

Masala Biscuits (Eggless)(Karam)

It had been raining heavily at Tuticorin for the past 3 days(which is an unusual scenario!!).I don't like biscuits as they are very sweet in nature..I usually take the Kara biscuit that is available at Ganesh Bakery(famous for its macroon).I just wanted to try a similiar type of this biscuit.Just came across the blog nammaruchi which had this recipe.

With the mixture of coriander, chilli, curry leaves, mint leaves the taste and flavour is fantabulous...Now i got addicted to this biscuit. In a monsoon season, hot chaii with such a crunchy masala biscuit is too much for an evening.

Just try it out and pass me the comments..

Jam Biscuits (Eggless)

Biscuit Biscuit Jam Biscuit...Enna Jam Co Jam...Enna Co Marugo...Enna Ma Amma....As soon as I saw the word Jam biscuits I remembered the above old game which we used to play during my primary classes...Now the present generations hardly play outside..

This biscuit brought back my golden olden young days where there were less choice for us to select. There were no bottles of Jams that were available readily at shops. We tasted Jam only in the biscuits...But now Jam had become a part of our regular meal!!!

One of my friend wanted a eggless cookies..So while browsing a few blogs,I came across this in raks Kitchen...

Cookies tasted too good and if you want it to be crunchy bake it more for a minute that is given in the preocedure...

Simple Butter Cookies

My kids were on their school vacation for the past 10 days.So they wanted me to bake some cookies for them..I baked it quite a few days back but was lazy enough to post them to my blog!!!This is a simple recipe for a cookie. It is very difficult to keep the kids engaged during holidays..My 2 kids kept on fighting...on petty petty issues .So to engage them I rolled out the dough and asked my kids to cut the shape using the assorted cookie cutters. They were just enjoying the process and were so happy when they could taste the cookie made by them....Both of them worked so well as a team and was very happy to see them..The elder one(8 yrs) was infact explaining the younger one(2.5 yrs old) the different shapes...

If u want the cookies to be little crispy then add 1-2 minutes additionally. The baking time may differ from an oven to oven...

Enjoy the cookies with the chocolate sauce on it ..

Fatafhat Microwave chocolate Cake

In 120 Seconds...(i.e)2 minutes...Can u bake a cake..??????? The answer is YES....Such an easy, tasty, effortless dessert to make.....A hot cake + cold Vanilla Icecream...yummy yummy combinations..

Last week I had a bad fall and had a phalangial fracture on my foot.It was a tough task to stay without doing anything with the leg being tied up!!. I was winding away my time on tatting(My new hobby!!) and scanning the recipes posted by various bloggers..Luckily I came across lifenspice which had this yummy recipe..Waited for a week ...With little of hopping and with my loving mom's help I tried this recipe....
I was more STRESSED..So to evade the stress I made this DESSERTS..If  u note it both  the words STRESSED and DESSERTS are palindromes(word that reads the same forward as it does backward)Thank U lifenspice for sharing this wonderful recipe and also the palindrome.Touched by the ease, taste of this recipe with the help of my lovable and caring mom I made this cake..My kids who had been sad(especially my  3 yr old darls) seeing my POP bandage, was much delighted to know that I made a  cake.
I tried out the first serve and it came out very well..Even I (I don't love cakes much!!..but love to bake )could not resist till the shots were taken. As I could not stand I shot the shots in a way comfortable to me...
The moment the shots were done...Phataphat.....the cakes shooted  into our mouth...
So Yummy,Soft...
The cake would fall down after microwaving but will be very soft.
Here comes the recipe for the 2 minute phataphat(which means very fast in Hindi)microwave cake......enzoiee
