One of my readers requested me to post some non vegetarian side dishes for Roti.Only then I realised that I had not posted any chicken gravies. My friend visited us last weekend and I made this gravy to have with Roti. This is a simple to make dish but the taste is similiar to the ones that u get at big restaurants..

Try it out and let me know how it tasted too..If any modifications or improvements please drop in the comments so that I too may incorporate the same!!

Salem Shredded Chicken Fry/ Salem Pichi Potta Kozhi Varuval

Mettur is my favourite town till today...I had been there at this place for more than 5 years.Though the town is very small, the ambience and the climate makes one to love the place. We were staying inside HH's company township which had complete facilities in all respect inside. From the house terrace we can see the stanley reservoir and the river cauvery....Free electricity and free water and also consistent supply..What else u need other than these ??!!!

It was a practice for us to visit salem every weekend for some reason or other. We loved to dine at Selvi Mess a famous place for the non-vegetarian items..One of my friend at Salem introduced me this dish which she called Pichi Potta kozhi varuval (in tamil) which means shredded chicken fry.I was tasting it for the first time and it was very light to have and was tasting very different!!

I always make this and use it for the rotis, rice, oothapams and also for making chicken fried rice..Kids will surely love to have this as this is less spicier than the other chicken dishes!!

Chettinad Pepper Chicken

Pepper and chicken go very well with each other. They give an exotic flavour and taste to the dish.I had been there to my parent's home last month for the vacation and thought I should try some non-vegetarian recipes..For the non-vegetarian recipes I always follow solai achi's blog..Similarly even this time I borrowed the recipe from her and tried it.It came out too well that I cannot describe..

It tasted nearly similar to that of Anjappar Restaurant's Pepper chicken..

Try out this for the forthcoming weekend and enjoy the spicy taste..

Murgh Makhani/Butter Chicken

This is one of the restaurant special dish.I never thought I could make this at home. After starting this blog I had almost stopped having food outside..I had modified the dish keeping the health aspect in mind.I had minimised the butter and cream quantity. But once in a while, u can relish your taste buds with this dish .

This dish is strictly a party dish.So it calls for more butter and cream. It is buttery, creamy and also yummy. It is a rich regal Dish.

The dish is said to be originated in a restaurant called Moti Mahal,Delhi. The origins of butter chicken can be traced back to a man named"Kundan Lal Gujral" who ran this moti mahal,Peshawar before the partition of India. With the partition the restaurant moved to New Delhi"-(Source:Wiki)

Ambur Chicken Biriyani/Dum Biriyani (Sunday Special)

This is a very HOT post. Most of my friends had been asking me to post a non-veg biriyani recipe.I was lazy enough to cook the biriyani...I cooked it this morning and just loved the way it had turned out.I could not resist from posting the recipe.I didn't take any special efforts too to bring in some props for the photo session.I felt Biriyani itself is special and it doesn't need extra photo buildups!;-)

Briyani-s are always special.S and Y's  school is closed for winter vacation till Pongal. It's always nice to spend time with kids.Today we had invited newly married couple to our home for lunch .Since it was vacation I thought of serving them an elaborate lunch and also I had ample time at preparing the dishes!!

I was breaking up my small brain for the menu list!!Atlast I thought of making chicken biriyani..There are various styles of preparing the biriyani.Being a native of vellore which is few km from Ambur...I am great fan of Ambur biriyani..Star Biriyani Hotel at Ambur serves very delicious biriyani. There are slight additions and deletions that has to be done when compared to the pressure cooked biriyani.
I googled for the ambur biriyani and got a video which described the preparation of the biriyani.I just followed it ..The recipe is explained by the owner of the star Biriyani Hotel-Ambur.

They had explained for mutton. As my kids don't take mutton I had replaced it with chicken.
Usage of Seeraga Samba Rice (Instead of basmathi-which is slow in digestion),lower spice quantity ,no green chillies  is the speciality of this Ambur biriyani. It doesn't cause any indigestion problems!!
